UEFA Champions League Prize Money 2020-21 (Leaked)

UEFA has allocated the prize money for upcoming 2019-20 Champions League season and record breaking €2.04 billion will be divided among the emerging clubs of Champions League 2019-20 season. This massive amount will be distributed among all clubs from qualifying rounds to finals. Back in 2018, Real Madrid has defeated Liverpool in the Finals of Champions League but surprisingly Liverpool has earned big share of Prize Money than Real Madrid.

As per details Real Madrid has awarded around €89.5 million which includes €54.2 million as fixed payments whereas €35.3 million has been paid to them in terms of market payments. Liverpool on the other hand earned around €101.1 million which includes €50.6 million market share and another €51.1 million performance based money. Now UEFA has made some changing in their prize money distribution system and here in this article we are going to guide you how UEFA new distribution system works.

UEFA Champions League New Distribution System (Elaborated)

UEFA collects their annual gross revenue from all UEFA competitions including UEFA Super Cup, Europa League and Champions League in 1 pot whereas UEFA annual revenue is estimated around €3.25 billion. Now UEFA deducts around €295 million for their expenditures and competitions costs from central pot and further €227.5 million is utilized by paying contracts payments to different clubs and national football associations.

After deducting all major costs, around €2.55 billion remained in central pot out of which UEFA pays €2.04 billion as prize money for Champions league whereas other €510 million has been paid for Europa League and Super Cup tournaments.

UEFA pays highest prize money in Champions League and it is also considered to be highest in the world. During the upcoming 2019-20 season, UEFA has decided to boost Champions Leagues prize money by 30% which now reaches around €2.04 billion. This massive prize money will be distributed among the participating clubs of this tournament from qualifying rounds to finals.

UEFA Champions League 2019-20 Prize Money Breakdown

UEFA Champions League distributes around €2.04 million among all the participating clubs of this competition. Teams appear in qualifying rounds and failed to enter into main rounds also get little bit prize money.

UEFA Champions League Qualifiers Prize Money

As per details, UEFA has revered around €30 million for all teams that appears in Champions League playoffs but fail to qualify for the main rounds of this event. However playoffs winning sides didn’t get any kind of prize money from this pot as they are entertained with group stage revenue share. UEFA pays around €1.95 billion to all teams succeed to enter into the main rounds of this competition whereas €1.95 million is distributed in four phases.

Starting Allowances

UEFA Champions League reserves around 488 million which is equally divided among all 32 particpating teams of this competition. All these teams qualified for the main rounds of this event and gets €15.25 million per team.

Performance Based Money

UEFA Champions League also pays €585 million to all emerging teams of group stage rounds. Teams are awarded by €2.7 million for their each victory in group stage matches whereas €900,000 has paid to each side in case of match draw. Around 2 million has been paid to group winners whereas group runner-ups are awarded by €1 million. Teams appeared in  Round of 16 gets `€9.5 million whereas each club is awarded by €10.5 million for reaching quarter-finals. Moreover, €12 million has been paid to clubs qualify for semi finals and €15 million are awarded to the winning side of this event.

Co-efficient Grades

Recently UEFA has adopted Con-efficient ranking system under clubs are awarded by extra prize money depend on their last 10 years performances in European Football Competitions. Around €585 million are awarded to the clubs on the behalf of their historical performances.

Market Based Money

UEFA Champions League has pays around €292 million in terms of market pool money. However it is basically TV income and clubs are awarded by this money in the basis of their appearances on local TV Channels during this competition.

UEFA Champions League TV Income Distribution

Gross Expected Revenue in TV Coverage
UEFA has set around €292 million in market pool for the upcoming three seasons of Champions League. This money is distributed according to the TV value of participating clubs. Moreover, this market money is awarded to each club depend on their performances in all European Football Competitions.

Highly ranked English clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool gets more Market Pool Money as compare to clubs belongs to Ukraine or other small country. For suppose if any English won Champions League it gets around 110 million prize money which includes €55 million from performance based money and €50 million from market pool money. For example if FC Basel succeeds to win Champions League title they will be awarded by small portion of market pool money as compare to Real Madrid or Barcelona.

So it is quite clear that market money depends on the market value of the winning side. The teams belong to top flight European Clubs gets massive share in terms of Market Pool money.  All the participating clubs of Champions League did not get same amount of Market money.

Moreover, each league is set to get specific amount of market money which is paid according to UEFA Rankings of European Leagues. For suppose top notch Spanish Clubs including Barcelona, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid appeared in group stage rounds they will get shares from market pool money for Spain. Out of which Barcelona got €24.6 million.

Madrid got €20 million, Atletico got €17 million and Socieded got €8.5 million in terms of market pool money. However when it comes to Italian football clubs Juventus got massive €58.20 million market pool money as Juventus is the only club that reached group stage rounds of Champions League for Italy and other Italian club AS Roma was eliminated from group stage rounds.

How Much Liverpool & Tottenham Earned Champions League 2018-19

Well Tottenham after long time succeed to appear in the Finals of Champions League against Liverpool and both these English clubs are going to earn around €70 million in terms of their performance based money. In addition to this they will also get share from coefficient rankings and market pool money.
