Pakistan faced England in 2nd ODI match on 11th May 2019 at Southampton and after winning toss, Pakistan’s skipper Sarfraz Ahmad decided to bowl 1st while keenly observe the playing conditions at Southampton.
English team openers JJ Roy and JM Bairstow came out to open up innings for their side. Roy and Bairstow from the 1st over played positively and charged Pakistan pace bowlers with big shots during 1st powerplay.
England lost their 1st wicket at the total of 115 runs when JM Bairstow in search of big shot caught by Zaman and Shaheen Afridi took his crucial wicket. Bairstow scored superb 51 runs while faced only 45 deliveries.
JE Root was the new man in for England and he joined Roy on pitch who was looking in great form. But JE Root didn’t able to provide strong stand to his partner and bowled out on 40 runs while Yasir Shah took his wicket.
England at the end of 30th over scored 177 runs while lost their 2 wickets. After the departure of Root, English skipper Eoin Morgan arrived on the field. At the total of 211 runs England lost their 3rd wicket and this time the most set batsman of this side JJ Roy was targeted by Hasan Ali and Roy after playing brilliant innings of 87 runs returned to pavilion.
After losing two wickets in quick sessions, Eoin Morgan and JC Buttler took the responsibility of their team and superbly construct their innings till the end of 50 over. Both these batsmen played some big shots and Pakistan bowlers completely failed to stop flow of runs in depth over.
JC Buttler the man of the day for England as Buttler in last few over played ballistic innings and teached all Pakistan bowlers a good lesson. Buttler played big shots in all parts of the ground and scored 110 runs on just 55 balls.
England at the end of 50 over scored massive 373 runs while lost their 3 wicket only. England cricket team skipper Eoin Morgan with 71 and JC Buttler with impressive 110 runs remained not out till the end of their innings.
Pakistan in return started off in good way as both their openers Imam and Zaman provided good start to their team. Pakistan lost their 1st wicket at the score of 92 runs when Iman was hunted by Moeen Ali and he returned to pavilion while scored 35 runs.
Baber Azam replaced Imam and joined Zaman on field. Both these batsmen played brilliantly and took their team total to 227 runs in 33 over of the match. Zaman after long gap re-gained his form and scored 138 runs while faced on 106 balls.
Pakistan at the total of 227 runs lost their 2nd wicket whereas their 3rd wicket fell down on just 233 runs and this time Baber Azam was targeted by Adil Rahid. Baber played brilliant innings of 51 runs. Pakistan at the end of 37 over scored 267 runs while lost their 3 wickets.
