Leg-spinner Chahal to the former Indian batsman looked a bit tired on the field.
Former Indian batsman Sanjay Manjrekar feels that Harshal Patel ‘s slow delivery will not prove to be effective on Australian pitches. Harshal is the Indian team’s death over specialist bowler and had recently made a comeback from injury in the first T20 International against Australia.
On Sports18’s program “Sports Over the Top”, Manjrekar said, “We have been watching Harshal for a long time. When the pitch is slow, his slow deliveries get stuck and it is difficult to play. It will grow when the pitch is flat and bouncy. That’s what you will find in Australia and the Indian team will definitely look into this matter.”
Harshal knocked on the door of the Indian T20 team by taking the highest 32 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 . Since making his debut against New Zealand at Ranchi in November 2021, he has become a regular member of the team as well as a specialist in the death overs. However, his bowling is not as sharp as in the IPL. This is the reason that Harshal is the bowler to have 28 sixes in T20 International matches for India in the year 2022 .
Manjrekar believes that many questions have been raised on India’s death bowling post the Asia Cup but Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah can solve the problem. He was disappointed after the Asia Cup but things got clear for him in the match against Australia.
Manjrekar, who is currently doing commentary in the ongoing series between India and Australia, further revealed that leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal found him tired. He said, “(The big reason for this) is (playing) a lot of matches. We have seen how he counterattacks, how he came back after being dropped. When he gets a little break before going to Australia, he Get into your own rhythm.”
In the first match in Mohali, Australia defeated India by four wickets on the basis of the innings of Cameron Green and Matthew Wade . The second match of the series will be played in Nagpur on 23 September while the last match will be played in Hyderabad on 25 September.
