In current edition total 10 cricket teams from all round the globe are going to participate whereas 48 matches including Semi-Finals and Final are scheduled in this event. The 8 emerging teams of this event are picked up from ICC ODI Rankings whereas 2 teams will be spotted through World Cup 2021 Qualifiers round.

ICC have made several changes in upcoming World Cup 2021 as opposite to World Cup 2015 now the number of participating teams are decreased to 10 from 14 whereas ICC has decided to adopt World Cup 1992 group stage format in World Cup 2021.

So cricket fans are going to enjoy something more thrilling and entertaining as unlike many previous World Cup editions where teams were divided in two groups. Now all teams are placed in single group and this format is known as Robin Round format.

As per rule declared by ICC, the winning side of any group stage match will be awarded by 2 points whereas losing side will get 0 point. In case of match tie both teams will play super over and results will be decided on the results of super over. If match disturbed due to bad weather or any other reason then both playing sides will be awarded by 1-1 points each.

Under Robin Round format all emerging teams of World Cup 2021 are placed in single group whereas each team is scheduled to play 9 group stage matches against all the other emerging teams of this event whereas top 4 teams will qualify for the Semi-Finals of this tournament.
